4 best ghd hair tools to buy now

Over the past year, we’ve all had to get involved and become our own hairdressers. You might not have had the courage to pick up the scissors or experiment with permanent dye, but our hair tools saved us days of bad hairstyling.

But if your straighteners now squeak every time you turn them off, or your hair dryer isn’t as powerful as it used to be, it might be time to give yourself an upgrade. And what better time to invest in high-tech tools than ghd’s 20th anniversary?

To celebrate the monumental milestone, the iconic brand of hair tools is offering customers a 15% discount on almost all of their range until April.

If you don’t know where to start, the Hearst Institute has done the hard work for you and tested a range of heated hair tools, to find the ones that are definitely worth the money.

Below are our top ghd picks, which were tested by 650 members of our review panel.

ghd Gold Styler

.

ghd gold® hair straightener

The only pair of straighteners you will ever need, these won our straighteners test, proving to be better than the competition which is double the price. Almost all of our testers said it made their hair look healthier and silkier, with 87% saying their style held in place all day long. The straighteners were comfortable to hold and easily created hair, waves and curls like poker.

How we test

Hair straighteners
Over 300 people – with hair types ranging from straight to afro – have tested over 60 straighteners. They judged them on their design, their heat up and styling time, and the overall finish it created on the hair.

Hair dryer
250 testers looked at 55 hairdryers to see how fast they dried the hair, how easy it was to use and hold, the noise level, and the finished results. In the Hearst Institute lab, we measured the temperature of the airflow, nozzle, and housing, as well as its overall design.

Hot brushes
Over 100 testers tried 23 different models to see which styler was easiest to use and had the best overall performance. In the Hearst Institute lab, we tested the temperature to make sure they didn’t overheat and assessed the accessibility of the controls to use.
