  • Jennifer Aniston’s new beauty brand, LolaVie, launched in September.

  • The Shiny Detangling Spray uses chia seeds, lemon extract and vegetable ceramides to strengthen and protect the hair.

  • An editor tested how LolaVie compared to other styling products in their routine.

Like many people eternally online, I’ve learned a lot from blind article websites and blogging, but few have been as ubiquitous in the past year as Deux Moi. The Instagram account shares anonymous tips on your favorite A, B, and C lists – think, this big Netflix star was spotted enjoying an aperitif drink with this middle-aged actor who may or may not have fathered the baby of his former costar. Deux Moi isn’t just where I learned the latest and sometimes messy Hollywood gossip; this is also where I discovered my new favorite hair product: LolaVie Glossing Detangler ($ 25).

A few months ago, Deux Moi hinted from an anonymous follower that a celebrity who made his big leap in the 90s would soon be launching a beauty brand. It was not shocking; Celebrity beauty brands have always been around, but the industry is booming thanks to stars like Rihanna, Selena Gomez, Halsey and Ariana Grande. When the news officially hit beauty editors’ inboxes on September 1, few were in awe of the fact that, yes, the old one Friends star Jennifer Aniston was launching a hair brand called LolaVie. I love Aniston, and a lot of people call her iconic hair, but I wasn’t buying the LolaVie hype that I assumed was soon to hit hard. Then another branding tip surfaced on Deux Moi – and I listened.

Shortly after the official launch, a Deux Moi subscriber messaged the account asking about LolaVie – was it as good as they heard it through the vineyard, or was it a dud. celebrity? Within one day, a flood of other subscribers wrote as well, confirming that LolaVie and its one product – an all-purpose styling spray – was just amazing. So I had to try it.

I have owned many sprays similar to LolaVie Shine Detangler, but few have managed to make my hair – in all its forms – so healthy. According to the brand’s website, it’s a lightweight, multitasking spray that helps detangle, prime, boost shine, smooth, and protect. It is proud to use 99% natural ingredients and a sulfate-free, silicone-free and vegan formula. But these details are everywhere in the beauty industry; in fact, many of the hair products I already use share the same characteristics. The main difference is that I have to mix all of these other hair products with more styling creams and leave-in. While there is nothing wrong with using more than one product (most people do), I like the ease and low maintenance of Glossing Detangler and the fact that I can use it entirely on its own. .

My hair routine usually involves washing and revitalizing myself before bed – a habit that I know isn’t great, but I do use a silk pillowcase so I deserve a few bonus points. Usually I need about three styling products to prep my hair, but wanted to test LolaVie on its own without any other product to assess its results. After my first use, LolaVie seemed to retain much of the shine that I usually lose in my sleep. It also brought out the natural waves that I rarely get to enjoy. My hair type is somewhere between non-straight and non-curly, but the texture can be temperamental or disappear after a few days. But with LolaVie, it stayed until my next wash about four or five days later. The next time I used the Glossing Detangler I wanted to style my hair with heat – it’s been five days now and my hair is still as shiny as hell.

While I think there are many awesome brands out there that compete with the ingredients in LolaVie, I have to admit that Aniston’s formula uses a list of powerful hair products, like chia seed, an ingredient that has long been successful. proven to help strengthen hair but that is rarely featured in mainstream products. It also uses lemon extract to enhance shine, plant ceramides to protect hair from damage, and bamboo essence to help improve moisture retention, so hair looks and stays softer for longer. .

Is it the most innovative hair product on the market? Probably not. But does it dramatically improve my nighttime hair routine? Absoutely. There are many things that Deux Moi followers may not be right about – I’m still awaiting confirmation of this shocking alleged A-List divorce – but they’ve got it all about LolaVie.
