The best Dyson hair product is actually the straightener, here’s why

I’ve never been one to brag, but when it comes to styling my hair, I pick up on trends pretty easily. This is likely due to the hours of YouTube I watched in college, memorizing tutorials, and perfecting my very novice craft. If you didn’t spend six straight hours learning how to braid your hair in a fishtail back in 2010, then I just can’t understand you.

Thanks to these acquired skills, I became the unofficial hairdresser of my group of friends. When we all get ready for a night out together, I know what to bring: my hot tools. But sometimes my friends bring their own, and that’s how I started using the Dyson Airwrap. If you don’t know much about the gadget, turn to TikTok. Chances are you’ll find a review of the Thing on your FYP within a few swipes. But before you get carried away with the madness, I have a piece of advice: if you want to get a Dyson styler to achieve incredibly easy-to-do waves or curls, don’t buy the Airwrap. Get the Corrale hair straightener.

That’s right, people. If you want your hair to be curled to perfection, go for the flat iron.

This, of course, is no shade to the amazing Dyson Airwrap – people are obsessed with it and its more budget-friendly dupes for good reason – but this device is hard to get used to. Also, you have to change accessories when doing each side of your head. For me, that’s a bit too much work. Especially when I have a series of girlfriend hairstyles to do in an hour.

Now, like the Dyson Airwrap, the Dyson Corrale is a luxury buy. It sells for $500 in most places and comes with a bunch of nerd accessories. But is the Dyson Corrale worth it?

If you have dry, damaged hair and can’t give up your love of heat tools, the answer is a resounding yes.

The brand took seven years to develop the device, as its goal is to halve the damage caused by normal hot tools. And that’s exactly what he did. The straightener has flexible plates that can help reduce breakage by 50% and prevent frizz and flyaways, according to the brand. These panels incorporate smart heat control technology so they can literally sense and react to the hair you’re straightening in real time. This futuristic capability allows the heat tool to change temperature based on your hair’s unique thickness, texture, and length.

Plus, these plates help your hair look shiny and smooth. I have struggled with hair damage from coloring my locks for years and am very aware of how dry and hay-like they look. Every time I use the Corrale, my hair is nothing but smooth and shiny. I feel like those models in the shampoo commercials.

Now, those same smart plates are the reason the flat iron is so good to use as a curling or waving device. They never cling to your hair and avoid the creases that often come with other straighteners when clamped on a section for a little too long. This is a crucial feature when curling your hair with the device, as much of the technique relies on the tension between the device and your strands.

Moreover, it creates a killing wave. Hailey Bieber achieves it when she does her hair on date nights for a sexy, undone look, and I achieve it when I want to go for a more relaxed vibe. I won’t go into too much detail on how to achieve this style, especially since Ms. Bieber explains the process very well, but I will say from experience that when you tilt your wrist from one direction to the other , the flat iron holds firmly without ripping out your strands.

A few other features to highlight: the straightener can run cordless for 30 minutes when fully charged. This eliminates all the tangles that come with styling. There is also a lock on it for storage and travel. This feature might not sound too amazing, but it certainly saves space when needed.

And this one’s for people who always forget if they’ve actually unplugged items before leaving the house: the straightener automatically shuts off after 10 minutes to prevent accidents and save battery life. Really, what does not have Dyson is thinking of?

Dyson Corrale limited edition set

If you want the best value, my advice is to invest in the brand’s limited-edition set. It comes with a storage case, travel pouch, and charging pouch and will save you about $60 in total.

Overall, I would say this flat iron is well worth the investment. I know it’s as expensive as a few shopping sprees, but it’s worth every penny. I know this is something that will last for years without losing its amazing capabilities. I know that with this device, I save my hair from fatigue and damage, and I probably save money on future hairdresser appointments. After all, when my hair experiences less heat, the breakage will decrease and the number of haircuts or conditioning treatments I will need will also decrease.

Truly, the Dyson Corrale is the Ferrari of hair straighteners, and I’ll keep it by my side for years, if not decades.
